Even though I don’t have firsthand parenting experience when it comes to back-to-school stuff, I have some tricks up my sleeve that will help keep your kids (and their schoolwork!) in order.
Check them out below…
Designate a simple station for schoolwork. Pick a central area in your home with lots of storage space and keep it simple because kids can be easily distracted… I know I was!
Design your study station to suit your kids’ work methods. Try to encourage children by using bright colors on walls and displaying their finished work as décor. Once they see their schoolwork framed and a part of your home, it just might motivate them to keep up the A+ work!
Organize clutter by keeping daily supplies – pens, pencils, erasers etc. – within reach and everything else stored away. When you have to whip out the art and craft supplies, you’ll know where to find them!
Find a filing system for paperwork that works best for you and your family’s needs. A convenient location like the kitchen is always a good idea, but wicker baskets work well too. Try to organize you children’s’ paperwork into categories of priority – is it something you need to act on now or refer to throughout the year?
Assign specific places for schoolbooks, homework and backpacks otherwise you’ll find these items dropped all over the house. Make sure that putting items in their designated places becomes a part of your kids’ schedule and it will soon be second nature… I think.
And if you need extra help, my friend Janette has some good tips for creating work-play spaces for kids.
