Welcome back to the sunshine state aka my First to the Future home. So much progress has been made since demolition day. Check out the latest episode below to see where we’re at…
It’s finally starting to take shape and really look like a home, but we still have a long way to go. Some highlights from the past few weeks include raising the DECRA roof, letting the light shine into the LaCantina doors, wrapping the house and much more. I can tell you all of this, but to paint a better picture, take a look at some updated pics from the site.
Here’s a view from the very top before the DECRA shingles were installed.
And here’s the finished look in all it’s glory. Can somebody say raise the roof?!
Happy as a kid in a sandbox, only my sandbox happens to be housewrap… ha!
ClipStone chimney lookin’ good for Mr. Claus this year. I’m starting my wish list early.
We also heat things up after the Heat & Glo install. Can’t wait to fire this thing up during the winter season.
And last but not least, I stopped by the Viwinco warehouse to test out their impact-resistant windows. They actually let me shoot a 2×4 out of a cannon to simulate what it would be like during a hurricane. See what happens below…
Seriously awesome! Thanks for tuning in. Until next time…

It has been an adventure to see the building process of your Next Gen to The Future Home Ty, and really enjoying every step, seeing you happy after building a home for so many and now starting the process of your own place makes it all more exciting, but this is not my favorite part yet, I will be really excited when I see the furniture and the inside you will bring to your home and all the things that makes someone´s house unique and with their mood and spirit. I bet there will be a lot of people willing to meet this place what leads me to an idea, bring a winning fan to get to know your home when it´s ready, ok I hope this can be available for fans all over the world, otherwise I will have to place a non wanted invasion during winter hahaha. On a more serious sentence I am happy you will finally get your home sweet home….
WOW beautiful!! Is becoming fantastic!! Great project!! Ty thanks for the updates!! 😉
Hello Ty and everyone
It has been a long hot and very busy summer for me here in Austin (my new home as of April).Just checking in to view the update on your soon to be home in FL. Looks gorgeous! I also watched the video on the bottom about the hurricane proof glass. Wow! That stuff can really take a hit.
Great Having you Back, Kathlyn! Congratulations on your new Home. Hope your move wasn’t too stressful. Wish you many happy years in new Home.
I agree the Fla. house looks gr8. I love all the windows, the home is sure to get p,enty of light and gr8 views. I heard the house is a blend of Craftsman and Modern, and since I love Craftsman can’t wait to see how Ty is going to make that blend in with Modern elements he likes. Hmmm…..it should get real interesting as it draws to the finishing stages of design.
Have a great day , Kathlyn!
Good to read you here Prism! : )
Agreed. Craftsman products built to last with a touch of modern; it’s going to be quite the unique and beautiful place.
Thank U, Kathlyn. I appreciate the sentiment. Craftsman Products are good. But Craftsman is also a style of House. I guess I should have been more specific, lol. Craftsman style and Modern is what I heard the style of the house is going to be. The Craftsman style is I believe 1930’s-40’s. , charactized by large fireplaces, built-ins and Archways and wood floors and typically 1 story, while a Victorian is two. Oftentimes the second level was added on later and makes it 11/2 levels. When you see a Craftman Style house it usually has a wide as the house front porch, but Ty,s house has none. Hope this clears up any confusion Kathlyn. Next time I will be more specific,
Question: would you, like, totally freak out ,if I should show up on a big tour bus, with a busload of passengers and A megaphone and yelled in your ear, (((MOVE….THAT…. BUS))) when the house is done, to welcome you home, Ty.
Or is that, like, the craziest idea you’ve ever heard of? lol. I have no idea Where I got that idea, Ha!
Whaddaya say, everyone! Shall we meet in Florida when its done and give Ty a heart attack! lol I get first dibs on CPR, since its my idea, though. Ha!
Have a wonderful day, Everyone!
