Ultimate Neighborhood Give Back Challenge

Ty Pennington & Guaranteed Rate's Ultimate Neighborhood Give Back Challenge

Good morning people! Since Extreme I’ve always tried to get involved in cool projects that improve communities. Pencils of Promise was a great start, but I wanted to extend the idea of giving back to people across the country. It’s absolutely incredible what can happen when people come together for a great cause! I’ve been getting a lot of requests in my inbox to help out communities, so I sat down with my friends at Guaranteed Rate and we came up with an awesome opportunity.

Today I’d like to announce the launch of the Ultimate Neighborhood Give Back Challenge.

Ty Pennington & Guaranteed Rate's Ultimate Neighborhood Give Back Challenge

What is it?

The Ultimate Neighborhood Give Back Challenge is a nationwide search for people and organizations doing good works in their communities. Guaranteed Rate will award a total of $100,000.

  • 1 grand-prize winner receives: $50,000 & I’ll spend a day on site helping with the project
  • 5 runner-up projects receive: $10,000

How does it work?

Starting today, communities can submit their projects to be considered for the grand prize. Submissions will need to include a photo and project description describing the impact on the community. Deadline to submit is June 9th! Make sure to share your project with friends and followers to get as many votes possible.

Entrants will be able to share their projects and everybody can vote for the semi-finalists. Guaranteed Rate and I will select 50 semi-finalists based on the impact their project has on the community, the ability to execute, and popularity of the project. Do your best to impress us! Semi-finalists will be asked to submit a project timeline and a 1-3 minute video, so keep that in mind.

Who can enter?

People or organizations that are leading projects to make their communities a better place. Projects can be almost anything: rehabbing classrooms, improving a ball field, revamping a youth center, cleaning up a playground, planting a community garden, upgrade a counseling center, building a warming center… anything that makes a community a better place. First-round submissions are narrowed down by the impact the project will have on the community, the project plan, and popularity of the project.
