Come Here and I Will Vespa Sweet Nothings in Your Ear…

Shhh…do you hear that?  It’s the sweet sound of the iconic Vespa scooter, trilling about town.  While they may have originated in Rome, Venice (California that is) is where I found that having my own Rally was the ideal way to get around.  The name ‘Vespa’ means ‘wasp’ in Italian, and I have to agree that it’s a great way to buzz about town.  Because everything is relatively close together in my neighborhood, this way of transport makes it easy and eco-friendly to get to where I need to be – one tank of gas can get you around for about 245 miles!  I call that a win for your wallet and Mother Earth.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a fan of these innovative and stylish scooters….and with nearly 18 million sold worldwide since their inception, I’m not alone.  While style is a personal preference, many Vespisti (that’s what fans of Vespa are affectionately called) argue that the most coveted classic model is the 1958 G5 which represented the start of the Sport category for the Vespa company.

While their style has gone through ups and downs since 1946 – including a shot at 4 wheels, their cool factor has always been off the charts.
