Ty's Take

Ty’s Take | My Turquoise Necklaces

Okay so I’ve gotten a lot of questions about my necklaces. I don’t blame you for being curious, because I wear them all the time and up until this point, I guess I never really told the story behind them. So here it is…

I’ve been fortunate to travel to a lot of places in my life. But during a project on a reservation in Arizona, these necklaces were given to me as a gift from a local Native American artist. I’m a quarter Cherokee Indian, so not only does it represent part of my heritage, but I’ve always been drawn to turquoise.

Legends call Turquoise the “SkyStone.” Medicine men cherish it for its sacred healing powers, and it’s been known as a protector. The Skystone is also thought to have positive healing energy that helps in our everyday mental functions. It really is a beautiful stone. The natives say it’s “good medicine,” and I can’t argue with that… It’s always been my lucky charm.
