New Year, New Promises

Happy 2014 folks! This might be the year of the horse, but for me, it’s a year of promises. And today I’m kicking it off with a special announcement about a new project I’ve started with Pencils of Promise.

Ty Pennington's Pencils of Promise Fundraiser Campaign for La Independencia | Build A School in Guatemala
Some pretty incredible things can happen when people come together.

So PoP is a really cool organization that partners with small communities in Laos, Ghana and Guatemala to build schools and bring quality education to children who really deserve it. All it takes to build a school in these areas is $25,000. A gift that keeps on giving for years to come! To give you a better idea of PoP and their awesome work, watch the video below…

The community I’m working to fund a new school for is called La Independencia, located in a small and isolated village in  Guatemala. Right now, the children go to school in two temporary palm structures that sit on borrowed land and lack bathroom facilities. But members of La Independencia are determined to improve the quality of education for their children, and I seriously admire their dedication. I’m stoked to be on their team!

I know the impact communities can make when they come together for a great cause. Together we can raise awareness and support a child’s future for years to come. So if you’re looking for a 2014 resolution, consider joining my team! Make a personal fundraising page for PoP like mine and you’ll be eligible for exciting contests, prizes and special messages and shout outs for my La Independencia team members!

Ty,
Thanks for all you have done in the past , especially for the military community. I am a retired 32 year military veteran with combat tours, and just did 3 years overseas contracting in the middle east, and returned home to spend more time with my family. You are awesome and I want to say I have built homes and worked on things, by no means and expert but love to work with my hands. If you need help around the world let me know, I can travel and help as I have in other countries in my former career.

Hi Ty In your name I was able to make a sm. Donation I did not know were I was going to come up with the money but some times you just have to do things in faith not set of your own of mine so I did it, and the next day I did come in to a little money very little but money just the same, so I thank God that he sent me the money I so needed for the Donation and I all so needed some warmer clothes so I went to good will and pick up 1 Denim jacket orange denim jeans and 2 plaid flannel shires for only10$ and was able to get some food for my family, that shows me that some times you just have to work on faith that’s what faith brings one, so I felt that some times some things I just needed to share may be it will help others to believe in faith. so until next time Hugs and Kisses.

How about extreme makeover Restaurant Style ??? My families Restaurant needs a lot of help. I was there today and it was raining bucket-fuls of water in the Banquet room. My Children own this through my moms estate. Its settling (30 days) and my Boys 16 and 17 show real enthusiasm to want to make this their careers. I would be able to obtain the property but have no idea the extent of damage the years of neglect has done to it. My father and I worked on this Restaurant property in 1989-1993 Then he was tragically killed in a car crash. My world crumbled from there. My father and I designed many of remodeling projects. We want to name the Restaurant in memory of my father Webster’s Home Restaurant. Home of the Sam-wich and the Fat AZZ Burger….My oldest son Samuel is a foodie. He loves to eat.
It would mean so much to my family if someone would help us.
This not only would create jobs for my sons but 5 other people as well. Building the economy. One job at a time.
I’m a full time college student at Youngstown State University. I carry a 3.00 GPA and I work a full=time job as a direct care-giver for mentally handicapped adults. My husband works with the mentally challenged also. We make a little over minimum wage $8.50 hr. This doesn’t go very far. We have learned to keep our overhead low and our bills at a minimum.
My boys split wood.
I know if there is a will there is a way and I have faith that if it is meant to be I will receive all the assistance I need to complete my project that Life has given. I appreciate your consideration in this important business matter. If interested in our families story contact ceschmitz@student.ysu.edu .
Happy New Year

i am so glad to be apart of your team, Ty. I know I am making a difference to someone who lacks the opportunities that we have here in the USA.
I am still doing my #Ten4Five campaign. The first Ten people who join Ty’s team , I am donating 5 dollars to their fundraisers. I have already donated to everyone who has joined so far.

I hate seeing that zero balance on anyone’s fundraiser, so I thought why not turn my personal donation into something that motivates and thanks others for being involved, and helps others too!. and so the #Ten4Five challenge/campaign was born. We need 4 more people to join the team and I will have completed my obligation on that end.

You can choose to Donate or u can join the team and do a fundraiser for the team.
One fundraiser I am thinking of doing is Change4Change. I have to speak to the school Principals but the idea is sending an envelope attached to a paper about PoP and asking kids to get spare change from their parents.

Does Anyone else have any other ideas for fundraisers that you found works?
I was also going to have Garage sale and donate the proceeds to my fundraiser, and I thought about some sort of community-wide yard sale involving the schools since it is an education based foundation , So if anyone has any other fundraising ideas , Please join in. 😉
