When autumn kicks in and the air cools down, there’s no better way to hang on to a little summer heat than to fill your rooms with a feeling of relaxed comfort. It can be as easy and cheap as tossing an earthy-hued, textured throw on a chair of adding a plush pillow.
Textiles are probably the easiest way to warm up your home. A good quilt or soft throw is like a big hug to your senses, so be sure to make room under side tables, in linen closets and on top of chairs/stools for seasonal layers.
If you have wood or tile floors, try adding an area rug. Soft sheepskin or traditional patterns are especially good for keeping your toes warm and bringing a little bit of the outdoors in.
Same goes for pillows. Nothing is cozier than a fur or velvet pillow to rest your head on…
The scents of the season are another way to warm up your home for fall. Spiced candles, woody incense and, of course, the smell of fresh baked eats, definitely evoke that a feeling of comfort throughout your home (and stomach).
Swapping out your summer drapes for something a bit heavier will help keep the cool air out of your windows. And draft stoppers are good for any doorway entrance.
