DIY Design: Custom Outdoor Rug

Since it’s summer I know you guys are probably spending a lot of time outdoors, which is great. There’s nothing I like better than some sand, surf and sun.

But hey, even if we can’t be on the beach all summer, it’s still nice to soak in some Vitamin D in your own backyard.

The key to making your backyard more inviting and livable is to make it seem like an extension of your home.

Last summer I spent some time with the awesome Rachel Ray on her show and went over some ways to make your backyard more of a hangout spot. One of my ideas was to create your own custom outdoor rug. In case you missed the segment, I thought I’d go over an easy way (well actually two easy ways) for you to customize your own.

Staples and Rubber Liner

Get a rubber liner and an industrial staple gun with galvanized staples and staple all the rugs to the liner

Or

Metal Wires

Get a metal wire and run it through the bottom of each rug and twist it together

Pretty easy right?

And remember, you’re the designer here so mix up your favorite patterns, colors, whatever you feel like.

Here are some cool outdoor rugs if you need some inspiration:

What do you guys think? Where will you put your awesome new rug?

How can I have a very worthy and remarkable woman get an extreme makeover?
She rescues abused, old, neglected, and unwanted horses.
She lives on a shoe string in order to save these horses.
Can you help?
