Spotlight | Lucid Stead
I love art that fuses a bunch of different mediums together. So this next spotlight is shining on one particular artist installation and his vision is seriously out of this world.
Check out the installation video below…
This, ladies and gentleman, is the latest piece by Phillip K Smith III in Joshua Tree, CA. If you’re not familiar with Joshua Tree, it’s a really cool camping spot in the deserts of California and an excellent location for his latest piece titled Lucid Stead.
The use of colorful LED lights and an a awe-inspiring landscape perfectly combines together in this piece. It’s an installation that, although isn’t in a public space seen by many, it totally deserves a moment to shine in the spotlight.
Lucid Stead is about tapping into the quiet and the pace of change of the desert. When you slow down and align yourself with the desert, the project begins to unfold before you. It reveals that it is about light and shadow, reflected light, projected light, and change
I don’t know about you but I haven’t seen anything really quite like this and it’s totally awesome. I hope this is a sign of a creative year in art and design! What do you think?
If you know a designer that deserves a few minutes in the spotlight, let us know about him/her in the comments below. We appreciate the feedback!
