I’m always looking for new inspiration. So today I thought it would be cool to highlight my friend and designer David Butler. Not only does he have fresh ideas and is a lead singer in a rock n roll band, but the DUDE designs patterns for quilts. I mean come on… I can totally relate!
David Butler is the mastermind behind Parson Gray, a folk modern brand that creates fabrics and products for home décor and clothing. The Parson Gray brand is super cool and has released a pretty impressive lineup using Butler’s fabric patterns. Elegant wool rugs, cool skins for your gadgets, trendy clothing and accessories for both men AND women… seriously the guy makes it all.
One of my favorite things about Butler’s style is the way he combines organic colors schemes with hand-drawn, geometric patterns. If you didn’t already know, I’m a sucker for geometric shapes! Even though Butler’s color combinations tend to be on the softer side, the sharp edges and symmetry of his shapes add a sophisticated contrast to his finished products. Not to mention, this guy really rocks with his band Black Owls, so he’s got edge in other areas too. Music passions unite!
I’m also really into Parson Gray’s balance between rustic and modern. Blending vintage textiles with new ideas will never get old. I’m a vintage collector myself, so his designs definitely make me feel connected to the classics.
