Like the bedroom, the bathroom is meant to be a personal oasis; a place for you to slowly prepare for the day ahead or relax after a long day at work. But having an inviting bathroom is going to require a little more than a toilet and tub. Keep reading for a few elements to consider when you’re creating a calm zone in your bath. And if you have any suggestions to add, leave them at the bottom of the post.
1. Elegant lighting – A chandelier adds a bit of drama and ambience to any bathroom, but other types of lighting can bring elegance to your space. Contemporary fixtures and wall sconces are perfect for highlighting certain areas, but I also believe they emit the right amount of light for all your bathroom needs.
2. A mix of storage – Clutter is the last thing you want in your bathroom, so be sure to have ample storage space. Tuck away toiletries and other unnecessary items, but keep a few clear bottles and jars out as tasteful accessories.
3. Architectural elements – High ceilings, dark floors and woodwork work great for giving your bathroom the kind of warmth you might find in your living room. But other elements like waiscoting and molding do the trick too. It’s really up to your style and budget.
4. Soft touches – There’s a reason why hotels and spas are stocked with fluffy, white towels. Soft and welcoming touches like this around your bathroom will evoke a calming feeling. You can do this with piles of towels, comfy rugs, draperies, etc.
5. Rich, warm color – Nothing is more inviting than warm color tones, especially as temps cool down. Brown, red, orange, or any fall color combination that suits your style is a great way to upgrade that cozy feeling in your bathroom.

Hi Linda.

Yes that is why i fellt for it. 😉
I love the first faucet Gitte, so charming…
Thank you Carla.
That was a hard one Ty Ty, all of the above are lovely bathrooms, but I think I would choose the first and 6th picture that are the same bathrooms, I love how charming they are. Here are some I think are cute too. I like the tips from Feng Shui apllying to the bath which says that the best colors are caramel, beige, cream, peach, terracotta, plum and muted grays. Keep fresh flowers in the bathroom to bring in freshness and positive energy. You can light aromatic candles and incense sticks, or place potpourri enriched with your favorite essential oils, in your bathroom. Doing this will create a tranquil atmosphere, giving you a spa-like experience in your own bathroom. Remember that clutter obstructs the flow of positive energy, and so, you should keep every corner of your bathroom clean and free of clutter. What do you think about using Feng Shui in design Ty Ty?
Hi Carla. Love The Feng Shui idea, in the bathroom. That inspired me even more.
Gitte, I love it too… it really inspires, I wish I understand more …. one thing I learn, no clutter hahah
Ha ha ha Carla. That i learned to, i think feng shui is about to pleases all ouer senses. 😉
i like fung shui elements too. many people do this article mentions many of your ideas, plus some so hear are more ideas for everyone. http://fengshui.about.com/od/designbyroom/qt/homespafengshui.htm unfortunately fung shui doesn’t always fit into an existing home examples are old english architecture when designing fung shui its usually best to start with the blueprints for best result. theses are very nice photos not all the photos are fung shui though. but you can bring a little fung shui in by these small touches, just like the article said.
Hi Suzy, thanks for the comment, I didn´t mean to post feng shui pictures, I just posted some of bathrooms I like. I was just telling about feng shui and mentioning some elements I found over internet and think are interesting…
Hey Ty Ty how lovely is this outdoor shower?
The Master Bathroom for me is the only room I want to be mostly modern in decor. Although I do not like those bowl sink that look like they are above the cabinet, I love undermount sinks best and in a master I think you need a double sink and a separate shower from the tub would be my dream. One tip I can offer your readers is there are many different options for windows including having no windows in a bathroom. I want my master Bath to be a little more private than having it open to the wild outdoors and nosy neighbors who may be painting their 2-story hoouse, Ha! SO for your readers I suggest giving the overlooked window options a thought or two.
Some options available are
1. Instead of a window a skylight
2. Glass Blocks which let in the light but neighbors on ladders will see nada
3. Frosted Glass, also lets in light and neighbors lack a view
Glass blocks can also be used as a wall to separate Bedroom from bath, lets in light but allows for privacy.
Here are some Pics Of what I like, Some I like elements but not necessarily the whole bathroom.
My favorite is the Stone tub surround with the matching Stone fireplace. which is one of the thumbnails, you have to click to open. I like the the one with the tile inlay in the shower but did not like the color. but the detail of the tiles are great.
Hi Ty!
My bathroom is SUPER small…. we have the door u walk in, clawfoot tub with shower kit on the left, sink on the right, toilet after the tub on the left then radiator on the right. In front of you is my big window, I love! 9 foot ceiling but the room is 9 x 6 x 9. How do I use my space to get the most!? Storage is a big issue!! There’s no place for towels, toiletries etc. I was thinking update the tub= new shower handle, & shower head like the one in the above picture, in-wall storage shelves, small pedestal sink…. HELP!
